Suburbia North Animal Hospital is a well established, full service, small animal veterinary hospital providing comprehensive medical, surgical and dental care. We provide a broad spectrum of diagnostic procedures through in-house testing and the use of outside laboratories.  We also specialize in canine reproduction.

At Suburbia North Animal Hospital we strive to offer not only sound advice, but also optimal veterinary care, thus allowing you the enjoyment of your companion for a maximum number of years.  Our job is not only to treat your pet when he or she isn't feeling well, but also to help you learn how to keep your best friend happy and healthy.  We have so many clients that have been with us for 10 years or more.  We want every client whether new or old to feel like they are in a warm, pet loving environment surrounded by friends.

  • Kay McGuire, DVM, MS, BS

    Suburbia North Animal Hospital is owned and operated by Kay McGuire, DVM, MS. 

    Dr. McGuire is a 1988 Graduate of Texas A& M University.  She holds a B.S. in Wildlife and Fisheries Science and a M.S. in Veterinary Epidemiology, all from Texas A& M University.

    Dr. McGuire's special interest is small animal medicine and soft tissue surgery.  Her hobbies center around her love of dogs, competing in dog shows in both conformation and performance events.  She has produced many Champions in both Gordon Setters and West Highland White Terriers which she enjoys exhibiting herself.  She is also recognized as a Breeder of Merit by The American Kennel Club.  She serves as Health Chair of the West Highland White Terrier Club of America, Vice President of Health for the Westie Foundation of America, and Vice President of the West Highland White Terrier Club of Southeast Texas. She is a member in good standing with the Westie Club of England, Trinity Valley WHWTC Club, Gordon Setter Club of America and Suncoast Gordon Setter Club.

  • Karen Bookout, DVM

    Dr. Bookout is married and has 2 sons.  She has 2 dogs named Bandy and Drover. She is a graduate of the University of Houston, University of Florida, and Texas A&M University, Class of 1984.  She enjoys painting portraits of animals and free weight work outs.  She is a past president of the local veterinary association. 

    Her most memorable event at Suburbia was removing 2 metal choke chains from the GI tract of a young female English Bulldog.

  • Meredith Feng, DVM

    Dr. Meredith Feng grew up in Houston, Texas and received a BS degree in Architectural Engineering from the University of Texas, at Austin.  After working in the construction industry for a few years, she realized her true calling was to work with animals.  She graduated from Texas A&M University in 2012 with her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree.  Dr. Feng loves all aspects of veterinary medicine, but she is particularly interested in dermatology and ophthalmology.  When she’s not working, she enjoys going to the gym and catching up on her favorite television shows, but most of all, spending time with her family.  Dr. Feng's family includes her husband Nick, their twin daughters Harper and Hayden, and their 2 dogs, a yellow Lab named Harley and a Great Pyrenees rescue named Citori.

  • Jenny Yanson, Practice Manager & Frozen Semen Manager

    Jenny is our Practice Manager.  She handles the hospital and office necessities, customer service as well as keeping us all in line. She also manages all of our frozen semen freezing and storage. She is always ready to help our clients with any questions or problems they may have.  Jenny has lived in Texas most of her life and she and her husband Jason are the proud parents of many animals. They have 5 cats: Kiki, Mr. Stinky, Khaleesi, Penny Blossom, Pixie and an American Pit Bull Terrier named Mona a Lhasa Apso named Misha and an American Pit Bull Terrier puppy named Loki!

  • Sarah Hernandez, Lead Veterinary Technician & Inventory Manager

    Sarah is our Lead Veterinary Technician as well as our Inventory Manager.  Sarah has been in the veterinary field since 1995, graduated from Tomball Veterinary Technician School and has worked for Dr. McGuire since 1998.  She and her husband Ralph have 2 children Aurora and Liam, and 2 cats Jasper and Pocket and 1 American Pit Bull Terrier named Seven.
  • Doris Slaboda, Receptionist

    Doris is one of our Receptionists.  She has worked for us for many years and before that she was a loyal client for many years.  Her hobby is breeding, raising, and exhibiting Champion Cardigan Welsh Corgi's.  She has been very successful with her breeding program for numerous years, including owner/breeder of 2005's National Specialty Winner.
  • Keri Farrar, Receptionist

    Keri is one of our morning receptionists.  She love, love, loves English Bulldogs!  She has a Bulldog named Gunner, a French Bulldog named Opi, a Labrador named Buttercup and a new Frenchie puppy named Otis.

  • Jazmin Molina, Receptionist

    Jazmin is our morning and afternoon receptionist.  She has 3 kids and 6 furry kids!  She loves to work with the animals and has made a great addition to our Suburbia Family!

  • Luisa Rodriguez, Veterinary Technician

    Luisa is one of our morning surgery Veterinary Technicians. Luisa is our leader in surgeries and also handles all of our dental cleanings.  She is crazy for all animals and is the proud owner of a German Shepherd named "Boscoe".  Luisa lives with her daughter Czarina and husband Romeo.

  • Mayra Hernandez, Veterinary Technician

    Mayra is one of our morning surgery Veterinary Technicians. She has been with us for a long time and is excellent in surgery and performing dental cleanings to make your pets mouth sparkle! She lives with son Xavier, daughter Amira and daughter Penelope.  Mayra enjoys scrapbooking, and anything outdoors with her family.  Mayra has a cat named "Figaro", a Bulldog named Miley, a French Bulldog named Gatsby and a Chinchilla named Shakespeare!
  • Ashley Gerz, Veterinary Technician

    Ashley is one of our appointment Vet Techs.  She has a huge love of animals and has 2 dogs named Sniper and Gunner and 2 cats named Cali and Nala and a bunny named Twix.  She hopes to one day be a large exotic vet and work with the likes of elephants and lions!  <3
  • Cristina Salazar, Veterinary Technician

    Cristina is one of our Vet Techs and has worked with us since 2008.    She has 1 dog and 2 children Nathan and Gabriel.     She is also a very busy pet sitter!          
  • Maria Jimenez, Kennel Assistant

    Maria is one of our animal care technicians. She graduated from Milby High school in Houston.   She loves, and enjoys taking extra special care of our boarding dogs and cats.  
  • Lynn Frink, Kennel Assistant

    Lynn is one of our animal care technicians.   Lynn went to school in Michigan and has 1 Tibetan Terrier named Bell, 1 Boxer named Nikko, 1 Chihuahua named Tina, 4 cats, and lots of birds!    Lynn takes great care of all of our hospitalized and boarding patients and she just can't help but to spoil them all during their stay with us! 
  • Ol' Bitty

    Ol' Bitty is one of our newest clinic cats.  She came to us in bad shape and was very sick belonging to an elderly woman who could not take care of her.  After a few weeks of medical attention Ol' Bitty has a spring in her step and has gained weight.  She may not be the prettiest kitty but she has a special place in our hearts!


  • Amaryllis aka Amy

    Amy was a stray we found in the parking lot.  We had been feeding her for a while and it took her a long time to trust us enough to come into the building.  She is still very shy but loves her new sister Poppy!
  • Poppy

    Poppy was found hanging off a fence by her leg by a sweet Constable police officer.  Unfortunately Poppy's leg was in bad shape and could not be saved.  Poppy doesn't care one bit and runs all over the back of the clinic.  She too is very shy but adores snuggling and wrestling with her sister Amy!
